New York Moving (The Safe Way) Episode 1: How to Score 0 Injuries during Your NY Move
August 12, 2011
Generally, when speaking about NY moving, people are more concerned about hiring NY expert movers, packing and unpacking fragile items or house moving tips. Useful information about these topics you can find on our blog. However, you should not forget that safety comes first! It has to be a priority for you, for your family and for the friends or movers that help you out.
In this blog post, we tried to summarize some practical guidelines for you in order to stay away from unfortunate accidents that can occur during relocation:
→ Wear suitable clothes. Choose comfortable, but not loose-fitting outfits while transporting items, as they can be an obstacle during moving. In addition, it is recommended to wear nonslip shoes, especially on rainy weather.
→ Organize the space. Try to set an itinerary for people involved so they could easily familiarize with the space and take the time to clear the path of boxes and big objects, because there are a common cause for falls.
→ Protect your kids and pets. Take good care of the “small” members of your family during the moving day, as they are very energetic and curious about things happening around them. Children playing ‘hide-and-seek’ between the moving boxes in the house can be disturbing and dangerous; this is why be sure that there is an adult person supervising them.
→ Be ready for urgent cases. Despite precautions, you cannot avoid the occurrence of damages. For this reason, it is good to have a first aid kit, bandages and antiseptic to act quickly in case of emergencies.
→ Get help when needed. Even though, you are in shape and go often to the gym, do not try to be a hero when lifting heavy items 🙂 . Breaking your records at carrying weighty boxes can lead to back injuries or muscle strains.
Do not let unpleasant situations, painful falls and cuts mess up your moving day.
